New line cinema

When looking at new line cinema some of their films they distributed were; se7en, the Texas chainsaw massacre, the butterfly effect and Fracture. When I began this task in searching for the right institution for our thriller I researched films that I was inspired by and that were similar or had an effect on why and how we came up with our thriller idea. One of these films being fracture, as the film in itself includes a main and lead male character that solves the crime committed by another man. This idea of a sub-genre of a crime thriller or a legal thriller is very similar to ours in the way that they both revolve around the idea of the characters having job roles in the political system or society i.e. a lawyer or police officer.

Another film that I found that was not as similar to our thriller sequence was se7en. This film, although not being based around the same plot or narrative has inspired our thriller by the use of non-diegetic soundtracks and diegetic sounds, which is a very important and key technique we are going to use to build the tension and suspense. The use of Mise-en-scene and props in Se7en I thought was very specific to the serial killers ways of murder and fitted the whole theme in. This is what we want to create for our thriller sequence at the very beginning when we us the motion of a pan around the living room with props that give away a lot of detail about the characters personality.
